A Can’t-Miss Event for Local Seniors

Now in its 23rd year, the annual Capital Region Senior Expo is organized by Senior Services of Albany and is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 24 on the lower level of Crossgates Mall in Albany.

The event will feature more than 50 exhibitors who cater to the senior population. They will offer information on a variety of topics, including life, health, and long-term care insurance; housing; home health services; home repairs and modifications; city and governmental services; trips and recreation; finances; volunteerism and more.

Educational workshops, health screenings, health-related activities and entertainment will also be featured. In addition, Price Chopper pharmacy will provide flu shots, and Senior Services of Albany will offer a food tasting from the Meals on Wheels program.

Stop by each of the exhibitors and enter to win an array of prizes, including gift certificates from Price Chopper, Stewart’s Shops, and more.

This year’s educational presentations include:

  • “Home Safety & Housing Options as You Age,” presented by Montero Therapy
  • “Balance & Fall Prevention Hands-On Workshop,” presented by Choice Connections
  • “Do You Qualify for Prescription Assistance?: EPIC & Medicare Guidelines Explained,” presented by NYS EPIC Outreach

In addition to CDPHP®, the Senior Expo is presented by Price Chopper and the Albany Guardian Society.

About the Author

Alicia joined CDPHP in 2005 and is currently Vice President, Medicare Performance. In this role she is responsible for the growth, retention and oversight of the operational administration of our Individual Medicare Advantage plans. Prior to working at CDPHP, Alicia worked as a Facilitated Enrollment Specialist for Healthy Capital District Initiative, a local not-for-profit, assisting community members in obtaining access to Medicaid, Family Health Plus, and Child Health Plus. She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Siena College, with a minor in Sociology.
