For more than 40 years, CDPHP has been part of New York’s Capital Region, helping members get the care they need. To stay strong for the future, we’re making strategic changes, including a planned merger with Excellus Health Plan, Inc. in 2027. Although we are joining forces with another organization, CDPHP is here to stay, and our commitment to this community remains the same. You’ll continue to receive the personal, local service you rely on today, along with new opportunities as we grow.

Who is CDPHP merging with?

CDPHP is merging with Excellus Health Plan, Inc., which currently manages health plans across 39 counties in central and western New York. When the merger is finalized, CDPHP will join Excellus Health Plan, Inc. as an additional not-for-profit health plan serving the Capital Region and surrounding areas.

When is this merger going to happen?

The proposed merger is planned for early 2027.

How is CDPHP keeping their high-quality service and well-known brand if they are merging with a new company?

What is changing and when will we learn the details?

While many CDPHP programs, benefits, and processes are staying the same, we are adjusting others to better serve you. Notable changes will be shared with you throughout the year, some of which include:

Pharmacy benefits, including a new pharmacy benefit manager, a stronger pharmacy network, and improved pricing tools
New member ID cards with one phone number for pharmacy and medical benefits
A member Monthly Health Summary replacing traditional explanation of benefits (EOBs)
A new CDPHP.com online experience

NEW 2027 Member ID Card

Grab your new ID card and continue to enjoy high-quality CDPHP® coverage and benefits in 2027!

Watch your mail for a new member ID card to use starting January 1, 2027.

Your new card will look different and have a different subscriber ID number, so be sure to bring it any time you receive health care services or go to a pharmacy*. It’s the best way to ensure your 2027 claims are processed properly.

TIP! You’ll continue to use your current member ID card through December 31, 2026. After the year ends, keep your 2026 card in a safe place in case you need to submit or follow up on a 2026 claim.
