5 Quick Resources to Help Navigate Your Health Insurance

I’ll probably get in trouble for writing this, but I need to say it…health insurance is confusing.

Okay, maybe that’s not a groundbreaking statement by any means. But let’s be real here. This whole health care coverage thing still isn’t the easiest to navigate.

It doesn’t matter how educated you are or how much experience you have, no one has it all figured out. Sometimes when you hear people talking about their health insurance, it can even sound like the words are from some kind of alternate universe.

Deducti-huh? A co-what? What does that even mean?!

Stop. The. Madness. The last I checked, we are not aliens or robots. We are people who need to speak to each other all in order to take care of one of the single most important things in the world – our health.

The good news? At CDPHP, we speak human and our team is constantly looking for ways to make health insurance – and your life – easier.

Take a look at these 5 quick resources to have as a reference when you have questions about your health plan.

1. Watch these videos.

They’re short and sweet.

What is an Explanation of Benefits (EOB)?

What Is a Deductible?

What Are In-network Providers vs. Out-of-network Providers?

2. Search the CDPHP health insurance glossary.

Need help with a word? Type it in the search bar!

3. Use your CDPHP member account.

When you log into your member account online, you can view your coverage, review claims, submit a release of health information form, read up on your member rights, and more! This easy-to-use site gives a clear overview of your benefits and health plan costs specific to you.

4. Call member services at the number on your ID card.

If you can’t find information from your member account online, our member services team will be able to answer questions relating to your benefits.

5. Call the CDPHP Care team – they’re available to help with your health!

Talk with nurses, dietitians, and pharmacists to get help with medications, nutrition, exercise plans, and more. They can even schedule doctor appointments for you. Reach the CDPHP Care Team by calling (518) 641-3420.

There is no better time than now to use resources that can help you better understand not only how to use your health benefits, but what they mean. Whether you have a new health plan this year or have the same one that you always had, it never hurts to take a second look at what type of benefits you have and ask questions that will help you get the most from your plan.

Knowing what your plan comes with and how to use it can help save you money, protect your health, take care of your family, and even get you healthier.

Keep an eye out as we look for more ways to speak like real people and make things easier on you!
