ConnectRx Pharmacists: Superheroes in Capital Region health care
Not all superheroes wear capes.
For CDPHP® member, Kim Lane, her superheroes wear ConnectRx pharmacy name tags.
“I wish I could draw,” says Kim. “I have this vision in my head of the team at ConnectRx, and they’re all superheroes.”
A patient at ConnectRx for three years now, Kim appreciates the support she receives from the team in managing her specialty medications.

As a licensed social worker, Kim understands what it takes to fully support patients so they can achieve their best quality of life.

ConnectRx has made access to care easier for Kim. “With a chronic illness, I don’t always have the bandwidth to do all it takes to manage my medications. What would take me four to five days of back-and-forth phone calls with my doctor, the pharmacy, and the health plan, Laura was able to accomplish in one,” recalls Kim. “She coordinated six people on the line at one time, so we could have one conversation and get what I needed.”
Education The pharmacy team has also helped Kim better understand her medications; why they were prescribed, how they work, how to manage side effects, and how biological changes like menopause factor in.
“From my perspective, doctors prescribe medications but don’t necessarily deal with the side effects, especially if they’re not in the reported side effects,” says Kim. “The pharmacy has really been there for me at that intersection between the patient, doctor, and medication.”
Advocacy
With ConnectRx, Kim has the pharmacy as part of her care team advocating for her. “They call my doctor to communicate my side effects and progress in between my appointments. With them, I have the whole team taking a closer look.”
Tracking and charting
One of the most important components of care with specialty medication is monitoring and tracking symptoms. “Laura has been instrumental in helping me track and chart. At times, she’s even reminded me what I was doing when I had this issue or felt that symptom,” recalls Kim. “It’s better than anything I’ve experienced at other pharmacies.”
Support
“I trust the team at ConnectRx,” says Kim. “They’ve helped with so much, even emotional support.”
She also takes advantage of their free delivery. “Sometimes I’ll have them deliver my medications to my home, other times I’ll ask them to deliver to my office. It’s all depending on my schedule. They make is easy and convenient for me.”
