Samuel Volo, MD, is known for his proactive approach to cardiac care.

“He always provides patients with answers. He doesn’t rush you through your visit. And he always gets back to you with your test results.” That’s according to Jay Verro of Kinderhook, N.Y., a patient who nominated Volo for the prestigious CDPHP Top Doctors People’s Choice award.

Speaking about his cardiologist, Verro goes on to say, “He doesn’t talk at you. He speaks to you.”

Volo was both surprised and honored to learn one of his patients had nominated him for the award. He’s been on the job at Albany Associates in Cardiology for seven years; it’s his first job after completing his residency and fellowship in cardiology.

Humble in his work, Volo says he enjoys meeting patients at the bedside and in the office, interpreting test results, and most of all, “feeling like I’m doing something important.” He admits a lot has changed over the last 18 months, but he remains impressed by how his colleagues have stepped up in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As far as what his professional future holds, Volo is looking forward to meeting and helping new patients. On a personal level, he’s excited to start a family with his wife, Tara, a nurse from St. Peter’s Hospital he married in September 2021.
