U.S. Supreme Court Rules on Obamacare Subsidies

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on King v. Burwell, upholding a key provision of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that grants subsidies to individuals who purchase health care coverage on the federal marketplace. The ruling means that individuals who have been receiving financial assistance to purchase health care coverage on the federal exchange will continue to do so.

This decision has no impact on individuals who purchased health care coverage here in New York, as the state operates its own marketplace and was unaffected by the ruling.

CDPHP® has embraced the principles of the ACA for years and views this law as a significant step toward ensuring that more Americans have access to health care, while remaining concerned about the cost of care. We remain committed to working alongside elected officials, health care leaders, business and community partners, as well as our members, to find solutions that will make health care more affordable.
