CDPHP® is pleased to announce its 2018 Charity of Choice – Family and Child Service of Schenectady. Throughout the year, CDPHP employees will organize dozens of fundraisers with the hope of meeting their $50,000 fundraising goal.
Family and Child Service of Schenectady, Inc. (FCSS) is a private, nonsectarian, community-based, nonprofit social service agency founded in 1930 by the Junior League of Schenectady and Saratoga Counties. Their mission is “To enrich and enhance the lives of vulnerable individuals and their families –including the elderly and those with disabilities – by providing highly personalized in-home and community-based services.”
The money raised by and for Family and Child Service of Schenectady will help to transform their Homemaker Program into a fully-certified Licensed Home Care Service Agency (LHCSA) by the New York State Department of Health. This will allow Family and Child Service of Schenectady to deliver a full range of in-home, personal care services. These include nursing case management, home health aide services, and personal care aide services, in addition to its long-standing homemaker services. The expanded service model will improve the program’s ability to reach new clients in need. It will also provide a continuity of care for current clients which was not possible under the homemaker-only model.
This year’s campaign will run a bit differently than years past. CDPHP is encouraging Family and Child Service of Schenectady to raise additional funds on their own with the support of development consultant Diane Cameron-Pascone. CDPHP will then match said funds up to $20,000. This will not only motivate Family and Child Service of Schenectady, but also put the tools in place to be able to continue larger fundraising campaigns on their own.
“We feel this is a great way to give nonprofits new sets of tools and resources to be able to maintain increased cash flow for years to come. Ultimately, we wanted the donation to help the organization, not hurt them because they couldn’t sustain what they had accomplished in a given year,” said Victoria Carosella Baecker, director of communications and corporate events.
Just days into 2018, the campaign has already taken off, with change collections bins filled in the CDPHP Patroon Creek Café, payroll deduction registration forms rolling in, and several raffles planned for the coming weeks.
“CDPHP employees never cease to amaze me,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO of CDPHP. “For the past seven years, our employees have wholeheartedly embraced this campaign, donating their time, money, and energy to local organizations in need,” added Bennett.
For the first time in 2017 and continuing for 2018, the CDPHP Charity of Choice campaign was successfully run through CDPHP The Foundation. CDPHP The Foundation works to support health, wellness, education, and cultural vibrancy in the Capital Region community.
