Your Guide to CDPHP Maternity Benefits

Before I became pregnant, when I would see expecting mothers walking down the street, baby bumps perfectly round, I’d fantasize about how amazing that experience would be. Fast-forward to my own pregnancies when the reality of sleepless nights, financial worries, dirty diapers, and nursing challenges set in and motherhood turned out not to be as glamourous as I had pictured it in my head.

But, don’t get me wrong. Having a baby is a wonderful experience. I did it three times, so it couldn’t be all that bad! Plus, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get the urge every once and a while to do it all over again, if only for those moments of baby snuggles in the middle of the night. However, if I did do it again, I’d be more prepared and aware of the maternity benefits I have access to as a CDPHP® member. Keep in mind that your particular benefits may be slightly different. Members can always contact member services or log in to their member portal for more detailed information.

I am most impressed with the fact that CDPHP covers breastfeeding education, lactation consultants, and breast pumps, in full for most members who are currently pregnant or recently had a baby. As a new mother, I could use all the support and preparation I could get to successfully breastfeed.

Some additional, notable benefits and resources most CDPHP members have to support them on their pregnancy journey, include:

  • Access to free wellness classes, including prenatal nutrition and fitness
  • 1-on-1 support from the CDPHP Care Team for high-risk pregnancies
  • Services and resources for mental well-being support
  • Postpartum resources to support a healthy transition into motherhood

Ovia Health*
For additional support, I encourage all new moms to sign up for Ovia Pregnancy. This unique, digital program provides unlimited pregnancy support through the Ovia Pregnancy app. Ovia Health is available to all those who are expecting with access to features, including:

  • Pregnancy calendar and daily baby updates
  • Weekly videos personalized to your point in pregnancy
  • Access to a tool where you can look up the safety of food and medication

If your CDPHP plan allows, you’ll have premium access to enhanced, personalized health and wellness features, including:

  • Unlimited 1-on-1 coaching with Ovia Health coaches
  • Information about your maternity benefits as a CDPHP member
  • Daily personalized articles and tips to help you achieve your goals

So, now that I know everything that is available to me as a CDPHP member, I guess I need to figure out whether I want to take the plunge into motherhood once again … and perhaps see what my husband thinks!
