When patients arrive for their first physical therapy appointment, they’re often at a low point. But with a thoughtful, hands-on rehabilitation program, physical therapist Matt Harrison loves helping them return to their best selves.
Matt is a Hudson Valley native, and he founded Harrison Physical Therapy in Fishkill, New York, in 2002. His orthopedic and sports physical therapy clinic is home to seven physical therapists who treat musculoskeletal injuries in adolescents, adults and seniors.
For Matt and his dedicated team, providing high-quality, individualized care to patients in a positive environment is the main goal, and working with CDPHP, as both a health care provider and an employer, helps them achieve this.
Caring for Patients as a CDPHP In-Network Provider
Matt and the Harrison Physical Therapy team became connected with CDPHP as health care providers “right from the beginning.” “We had a lot of potential patients who were CDPHP members, so we decided to become in-network providers with them,” Matt explains.
“CDPHP has been very easy for us to work with,” he says, adding that if his administrative team needs help, a friendly voice from CDPHP is just a quick phone call away. “We appreciate how easy it is to get someone on the phone – and once we do, the issue is taken care of right away. With some of the larger health plans, it can be more challenging to resolve issues.”
Serving Employees with CDPHP Benefits
Once the Harrison Physical Therapy team developed a strong relationship with CDPHP as health care providers, they also made the switch to use CDPHP as a health plan for their own employees.
Matt appreciates that his practice and CDPHP have something larger in common: They both call the Hudson Valley home. He often sees CDPHP at events throughout the area and believes the partnership is natural. “A local business, having a local health plan — one goes with the other,” he says.
Once they signed up with CDPHP, they’ve continued to return. “We’ve been very happy with CDPHP, so we’ve decided to renew the last couple of years,” Matt says.
“What attracted us to the plan is that there’s a great variety of local providers. We feel like almost all the providers in the area accept CDPHP. So, when a staff member needs to see a physician or get some kind of medical service, it isn’t hard to find someone who’s in network. My team likes the idea that they don’t have to travel out of the area to get the care they need. In our experience, we haven’t had an issue where somebody wanted to see a provider who was not part of the CDPHP network.”
Once Matt made the decision to move forward with CDPHP as a health plan for his own employees, his broker made it a smooth transition.
“It couldn’t have been easier,” he says. “CDPHP worked with our agent to simplify the process. They did a great job explaining the benefits of the plan and going through different options CDPHP had to offer. The onboarding process was seamless.”
Finding the Right Plan
Matt has found that the CDPHP Copay First plan has been a great fit for his employees, and he describes it as high quality, comprehensive and affordable. “It’s a great plan and, honestly, we really like it.” He says that the plan functions like a hybrid plan with a deductible, so it’s very cost-effective, but still provides his employees with the coverage they need. “If they need to go to urgent care, or see a dermatologist or other specialist, there’s no hesitation. It’s not prohibitive, so it’s giving them the care they want in a package that’s good for them,” he says.
Matt emphasizes he was pleased to find a plan that was so tailored to his employees’ needs. “Our staff is young and healthy, and we were able to find a plan that was cost effective with quality care and comprehensive coverage. I thought it was a great package, and I was excited to offer it.”
In addition to the broad, high-quality network of providers and plan affordability, Matt finds that his employees — an active group of physical therapists who care about maintaining their own health — appreciate several other plan benefits. For example, he says, they enjoy perks such as the fitness reimbursement for gym memberships and the included preventive primary care visits.
Gratitude for CDPHP Services
Reflecting on his experiences with CDPHP, Matt says he would recommend CDPHP to other employers, especially fellow small- and medium-sized businesses: “We’ve been very pleased with the product and level of service, and the price point was great, as well.”
Although the cost of living continues to rise across the nation, Matt was grateful that CDPHP enabled him, as an employer, to keep his cost-sharing with the employees low, allowing them reasonable monthly costs and the ability to plan annual medical expenses.
“We’re in the health care industry. I want to be able to offer a great health plan and have my employees get the care they need. This plan is built for what we’re looking for.”
Ultimately, working with CDPHP enables Matt and Harrison Physical Therapy to do what they do best: Helping others. “I really enjoy working with people,” Matt explains. “I like seeing them achieve their goals, leaving my office in much better shape than when they came in. I find that very rewarding.”
