It’s a Family Affair

Four Seasons Pediatrics

For the third year in a row, Four Seasons Pediatrics in Clifton Park, NY has topped the list of pediatric practices in the CDPHP Top Doctors report. The practice is run by a husband-and-wife duo – Drs. Harry Miller and Kimberly Elmer – who met 30 years ago while working at Albany Medical Center. Today, the physician power couple runs one of the most successful pediatric practices in the Capital Region, which is no small feat in the aftermath of a global pandemic.

“The last couple of years have been really tough on the team. We’ve had a lot of turnover and have experienced a lot of burnout.” said Dr. Miller.

The practice hired 25 new employees in the last year alone, including two mental health counselors, who were brought on to support the wave of children dealing with depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses exacerbated by the pandemic.

“We saw the train coming down the track. Parents were telling us how hard it was to get an appointment. It’s very helpful to have these services onsite.”

With so many new faces in the office, Miller says staff training and morale are paramount to the practice’s success. He coaches the front-end staff on how to handle challenging situations and celebrates their big and small victories with ice cream parties, company picnics, and staff recognition.
