38 Pick-your-own apple orchards you could visit in New York this fall

Apples – practically synonymous with New York state – are ready for picking starting in September. We’ve put together this quick-hit list for one of our favorite fall activities: pick-your-own (PYO) apples!

Break out the fall attire and gather your family because apple picking is one of the best ways to get outside for fresh air, take a break from your computers and phone screens, spend time with friends/family, and support local farmers. Plus, you know what they say about an apple a day…

All of the locations listed below are within counties that CDPHP serves. If we didn’t list a county, that’s because there wasn’t a PYO location that we could find in that area. In addition to PYO apples, many orchards offer additional fall family fun like pumpkin patches, family activities, shops with local goodies, and more. Some of these autumn extras are listed with each orchard. We recommend using this list to add a little adventure to your day by taking a drive to an orchard you’ve never been to before!

Pick-Your-Own Tips

  • Some locations may ask to make a reservation beforehand – so double check their website first.
  • Dress in comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. This goes for shoes, too.
  • Be aware of farm rules (PYO minimum, no pets, etc.).
