We talk a lot about healthy, nutritious food, but where does it come from? We’re fortunate that the Capital Region is rich with locally harvested and raised food. Take a tour with us through farms, farmers’ markets, and community shares right in our own backyard.

Bornt Family Farm 275 Log Woods Road, Troy, NY 12180, (518) 663-8132 This farm provides fresh, all-natural beef, pork, and veal that is USDA-inspected and hormone- and antibiotic-free.  

Mariaville Farm, Schenectady, NY All animals are pasture-raised and have free choice of forage. Antibiotics and hormones are never used. Beef, pork, lamb, and goat are processed at Double L Ranch, a USDA facility.

Samascott Orchards, Kinderhook, NY Samascott Orchards offers a variety of pick-your-own options, including strawberries, raspberries, zucchini, cucumbers, beans, tomatoes, and apples.

Goold Orchards, Castleton, NY Goold Orchards has a variety of apples available for picking and will have pumpkins in the fall.

Indian Ladder FarmsAltamont, NY Blueberries, raspberries, and black raspberries are currently available for picking.

Bowman Orchards, Rexford, NY Bowman Orchards features pick-your-own apples, berry picking, and many more seasonal activities. They grow more than 45 varieties of apples, as well as strawberries, raspberries, pumpkins, pears, peaches, blackberries, and more.

    Senator Tkacyzk is hosting a “Women and Beginning Farmers Roundtable” on October 14, from 10 am to noon, at the Montgomery County Annex Building in Fonda, NY. Speakers will be NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, American Farmland Trust, NY FarmNet, and NYS Empire State Development.
    More local food means we will be needing more farmers!

    This list is missing the longest running farmers’ market in the City of Albany – The Delaware Community Farmers’ Market on Tuesdays from 4 to 7 pm, behind the library at 331 Delaware. We accept WIC Coupons and EBT cards and usually run through November.

    sorry you missed us look at our site we have upick, 7 greenhouses that produce vegetables all year long, fresh meats, fish, bakery, nursery etc we are located in the town of kinderhook but closer to the village of chatham

    Lant Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast in Argyle NY is a Farm to Table B and B that is a stones throw from a number of farms listed here. PLUS it’s a great place to go for a tech-vacation.
